- In car Accident
Earlier this week, many local news sources reported an accident involving several motorists on a Los Angeles overpass. The car accident occurred in the City of Industry near East Valley Boulevard and South Stinson Avenue.
The Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a westbound driver hit a barrier and crashed into an approaching automobile containing a family of four. Tragically, the passenger who died was a child. First responders airlifted two of the injured victims to a local hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Auto accidents cause many types of injuries such as whiplash, back injury, neck injury, head trauma, traumatic brain injury, broken bones and cuts and scars. In a head on collision like this one, injuries can range from minor to very severe. In fact, additional injuries can occur due to firefighters and emergency workers who use extrication tools to free victims stuck in their cars.
Auto accident injuries can change a person’s quality of life. Oftentimes, a person can experience pain long after his or her injury occurred. Once there is damage to the body’s soft tissue, further injuries can worsen the condition. For example, if you injure your back in a car accident, you may re-injure it easily by lifting a heavy object, slipping and falling or while playing a sport.
Expenses due to a car accident can add up quickly. Besides medical bills, there are out-of-pocket expenses, property damage and loss of income if you can’t work.
Many people make the mistake of negotiating with their insurance companies themselves without the help of an auto accident lawyer. Why is negotiating yourself a mistake? It’s because the insurance company doesn’t have their client’s best interests at heart as a lawyer does. If you want the maximum settlement for your auto accident injuries, contact a lawyer instead.
