Fontana, Calif. — Senior Partner, Samer Habbas and Associate Attorney, Kristina Akers of the Law Offices of Samer Habbas & Associates secured a $11,000,000 settlement on a truck accident case. The plaintiff was driving eastbound on the 210 freeway in the far right lane, when his vehicle started to experience mechanical issues. Unable to drive any further, the plaintiff began to manually push his vehicle to the right-hand shoulder of the freeway. While physically maneuvering his vehicle from behind, he was abruptly struck by a box truck and forced into his own vehicle.
The incident left our client to suffer many severe, catastrophic injuries. From the scene, he was taken by an ambulance with a left femur fracture, pelvis fractures, major laceration of the femoral artery, laceration to the head, ischemia and infarction of his kidney, and nerve damage in both legs. The injuries sustained required our client to undergo multiple surgeries requiring limb reattachment. Doctors reported that the condition of his left leg is so severe that they will not be able to proceed with a knee replacement.
The state of his injuries have permanently changed the plaintiff’s lifestyle. Habbas and Akers filed suit against the driver, their employer, and the owner of the box truck vehicle. In total, the defendant’s policy limits amounted to $11 million. At mediation, the defendant counter offered with a $750,000 settlement, but the plaintiff refused to come off the policy limits. Using an aggressive approach, the plaintiff’s counsel was able to get the defendant to tender their policy limits. In result, Habbas and Akers were able to attain the full policy limits of $11,000,000 for our client.
