Lower gas prices combined with risky activities like speeding and driving while texting is increasing the number of car accidents for American drivers. According to the National Safety Council (NCS), more than 40,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2016. This is a 6 percent increase from 2015 and a 14 percent increase in deaths since 2014.
