The accident that followed took the lives of six people and injured eight others.

The Accident

After further investigation, the horrific accident scene was caused by a 37-year-old traveling nurse, Nicole Linton. She was traveling around 90 miles per hour and blew through a red stop light at around 1:40 in the afternoon on her way home from her job as an ICU nurse. Upon impact, at least three vehicles caught fire, causing a chain reaction crash. The accident caused six deaths, including an unborn child and a young family.

Linton only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital before being taken into police custody. She remained in custody with law enforcement, who are alleging she is a flight risk and a danger to the community.

After Further Investigation

In the months following the car accident, the prosecutors involved in this case have released information confirming that Linton was going at least 130 miles per hour rather than 90 miles per hour. Due to the analysis of Linton’s recorded car data, they have also determined that she had “complete control over steering, maintaining the tile of the steering wheel to keep her car traveling directly toward the crowded intersection.” While Linton’s attorneys also argue that she was suffering from mental health issues and suffered a lapse of consciousness at the time of the accident.

Since the additional court dates, Nicole has been charged with six counts of murder and five counts of vehicular manslaughter. She remains behind bars after a judge denied her bail request.
