WINDSOR, CALIFORNIA (September 26, 2025) – A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured in a Windsor pedestrian accident near the intersection of Old Redwood Highway and Thrushwing Avenue.
Sonoma County officials are saying the collision occurred around 7:22 PM on Thursday. A girl was crossing the street when she was knocked to the ground by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. She sustained multiple injuries all over her body, including her face and head.
A medical helicopter transported the girl to the University of California, Davis Medical Center. At the hospital, it was determined she had fractured her pelvis and both feet.
A full investigation into the Windsor collision remains ongoing at this time.
Drivers must continuously scan the road ahead of them and slow down to avoid hitting any pedestrian in the roadway. Pursuant to California Vehicle Code 21954, drivers must exercise care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. A driver’s duty of care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian does not disappear even in situations where the pedestrian is outside of a marked crosswalk. Multiple factors could contribute to a pedestrian collision.
The vast majority of pedestrian accidents are completely preventable. They tend to involve drivers that are not properly scanning the road ahead of them. California is one of many states that adjudicates claims on the basis of comparative negligence.
Even if a pedestrian was partially at fault for a collision, they will normally still be able to recover damages through a civil claim.
Often there could be several liable parties for any pedestrian collision. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, “Motor vehicle crashes are complex events. Usually they involve two or more vehicles. Elements that influence the occurrence of a crash may take place hours, days, or months before the crash. They include driver training and experience, vehicle design and manufacture, highway condition and traffic signaling, and weather conditions.” What follows are a few of the parties that could be liable for a pedestrian crash.
It is important that victims of pedestrian accidents understand that they do have legal rights. They are able to seek damages through a personal injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. A pedestrian accident attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are no up-front costs associated with hiring an attorney, and they only get paid by the opposing party if they are able to resolve your case.
We at Samer Habbas & Associates PC were very sad to hear about this major pedestrian collision in Windsor. It is our sincere hope that the injured girl will be able to make a full recovery.
