On Monday, February 13, 2017, a 13-year-old girl was hospitalized after a train ride at a Riverside amusement center located on Valley Springs Parkway malfunctioned.
Kayla Simpson and six other children were riding the “Incredible Express” inside John’s Incredible Pizza when the ride abruptly came to a stop. The sudden halt caused Simpson and the other riders to slam their faces into the train. The children suffered bruising, bleeding and other minor injuries. Immediately after the malfunction, the operator of the ride left to inform management.
Simpson was taken to the hospital before she was discharged. The other children suffered bleeding and bruising.
According to the Riverside Fire Department, the malfunction was caused by one of the wheels disassembling from the train. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health investigated the scene of the accident for further details. Cal/OSHA reported that the “Incredible Express” missed its mandatory inspection on November 2nd.
