Drunk Driver Causes Deadly Wrong-Way Freeway Crash In Riverside

Early Sunday morning, July 15, 2018, a driver of a red Ford Mustang entered the eastbound 60 Freeway heading westbound before slamming into a black Dodge Caravan near the Main Street exit. Jehan Mapatuna, the passenger in the Caravan was killed. The drivers of both vehicles were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Caravan, Alazar Omari, told ABC 7 that they were heading home after celebrating Jehan’s birthday. Omari had offered to drive since Omar had a few celebratory birthday drinks and did not want to get behind the wheel intoxicated. Ironically, California Highway Patrol reports show that the driver of the Mustang who crashed into them was under the influence. According to the police, the driver of the Mustang will be arrested for DUI when she is released from the hospital.
