Three People Injured in Trabuco Canyon Auto Accident

The Orange County Register reported a Trabuco Canyon Auto accident that involved a truck and a minivan in Live Oak Canyon Road on September 6 around 4 p.m., very close to where two teens lost their lives in another car accident just two weeks previously. Accident witnesses told California Highway Patrol officials that a southbound Long Beach Yellow Cab Co-op minivan clipped the front of a northbound box truck, causing extensive damage to the minivan’s front end and driver’s side. The minivan caught fire for a brief time before an Orange County Parks Ranger, who happened by on the way home from work, extinguished it.

After the initial collision, investigators say the minivan struck the box truck again on the left side, causing it to veer into a ditch. The 50-year-old male driver of the minivan was transported in critical condition to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Emergency flight personnel airlifted the 18-year-old female passenger in the minivan taxi to Mission Hospital in critical to grave condition.

According to CHP officers, there were three people riding in the box truck when the accident occurred. One person received transport to Saddleback Memorial Hospital via ambulance after striking his or her head on the windshield. The driver and other passenger remained at the scene of the accident.
