Woman Sues Disneyland For Traumatic Brain Injury

Anaheim, Calif. — An Alaskan woman filed suit against the Walt Disney Company, seeking $3 million in California federal court, alleging she suffered a traumatic brain injury while exiting the Space Mountain roller coaster ride at Disneyland. Sarah Andrews stated in her complaint that she “violently struck” her head against a low concrete ceiling when diverted into a dimly lit maintenance tunnel after the ride malfunctioned.

During the exit route, a Disneyland attendant instructed the group, including Andrews, to look down and watch their step. The attendant failed to warn the riders about the low ceiling, causing Andrews to hit her head. She later went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a concussion. Andrews was eventually diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and permanent impairment requiring extensive continuing treatment.
