California’s Interstate 15 Is One of the Deadliest in All of America
Interstate 15, Which Connects Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Has Had Over 80 Fatal Crashes in the Last Three Years

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (November 15, 2025) – A new analysis based on federal crash data has revealed California Interstate 15 is one of the deadliest highways in all of America.
Over the last three years there have been 80 fatal collisions. The interstate is famous because it provides a scenic route from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
Experts have said that several factors are contributing to the collisions. These include exhaustion and speeding.
People are all so much more likely to become complacent on the long stretches of desert roadway with little traffic. California actually has three of the 10 deadliest interstates in all of America.
Liability for Fatal Car Accidents on Interstate 15 in California
Speeding remains one of the leading causes of fatal collisions across interstates around California and the United States. Pursuant to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.” There have been several major collisions along Interstate 15 where speeding was either a known or suspected contributing factor.
- July 7, 2025: An 11-year-old child tragically died in a car accident on Interstate 15 after a Ford Expedition lost control and collided with the center median.
- August 23, 2025: Four people were killed and two others suffered major injuries in a crash on Interstate 15 after one vehicle jumped the center divider.
- September 20, 2025: One person died in a multi-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on the Express Lanes of Interstate 15.

- November 15, 2025: A semi-truck was involved in a major collision on Interstate 15 after it failed to stay in its own lane and drove through the center median.
If a driver fails to slow down to avoid a collision on Interstate 15, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Negligence is the failure to operate with the care necessary to avoid collisions. Any person injured in a car accident on Interstate 15 may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim. Damages can help cover loss, wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. Depending on the facts of any case, there could be several sources of liability for any car accident.
Steps to Take After a Car Accident on Interstate 15
Car accidents routinely kill or seriously injure tens of thousands of people every year. Victims are often left with extremely high medical bills. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “Motor vehicle crashes cost American society $340 billion in 2019 […]. The $340 billion cost of motor vehicle crashes represents the equivalent of $1,035 for each of the 328 million people in the United States and 1.6% of the $21.4 trillion real U.S. gross domestic product for 2019.” Accident victims should take several measures to protect their health and legal rights.
- Police: The police should be called as early as possible so that they can begin investigating the collision.
- Medical Evaluation: Victims should seek a medical evaluation as soon as possible. This is important even if an injured party feels mostly OK after an accident.
- Evidence Preservation: As much evidence as possible should be collected and preserved after any car accident. This will include taking as many photos of the accident site as possible and gathering the contact information of eyewitnesses.
- Legal Support: Any person injured in a car accident on Interstate 15 should seek the guidance of an experienced car accident attorney. An attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
The vast majority of accidents on Interstate 15 are preventable. They tend to involve clear lapses in human judgment.
Unfortunately, negligent drivers and their insurance providers will virtually never accept responsibility if someone is seriously injured or killed in a car accident. It is more likely that they will blame the victim for what happened. This is why it is so important for victims to carefully consider their legal options with a knowledgeable lawyer.
