Samer HabbasDowney, Calif. — Managing Partner, Samer Habbas obtained a trial verdict in the amount of $1,177,158.38 for a client who was struck by an automobile while walking in a crosswalk. The jury found that the collision caused the client a fractured tibia, concussion, anxiety, and depression. The insurance company’s best offer to settle this claim before trial was $375,000.

Habbas then filed suit on this matter. He implemented a strategy that would weaken the defense going into trial. After a two week trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the Plaintiff. The jury found the defendant to be negligent although the defense had brought experts to argue that the Plaintiff had entered the crosswalk on a “Don’t Walk” symbol. The defense further tried to marginalize all of the Plaintiff’s injuries, either reducing their impact on her life or arguing that they were unrelated.

After hearing all argument and reviewing each party’s evidence, the jury returned a verdict of $1,177,158.38.
