LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (December 15, 2025) – Multiple people were injured in a shuttle bus accident at the Los Angeles International Airport next to a parking structure.
Los Angeles County officials are saying that the accident took place around 5:25 PM on Monday night. The shuttle bus was involved in a collision with at least two passenger vehicles.
Emergency responders were called to the scene of the collision to help all of the victims. In all, 25 people were evaluated for injuries. Two of the victims were in passenger vehicles, and the rest were on the bus at the time of the crash.
One of the victims is reported to be in serious condition. It remains unclear what may have led up to the crash.
A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing at this time.
Liability for Los Angeles Shuttle Bus Accidents
Buses are considered common carriers in California, and their drivers must operate with a great deal of care to avoid collisions. According to the Judicial Council of California Civil Jury Instructions, “Common carriers must carry passengers [or property] safely. Common carriers must use the highest care and the vigilance of a very cautious person. They must do all that human care, vigilance, and foresight reasonably can do under the circumstances to avoid harm to passengers [or property].” Bus drivers should take several actions to avoid causing accidents.
- Blind Spots: Bus drivers should check their blind spots before making turns or changing lanes in the roadway.
- Rest: Bus drivers should take periodic rest breaks throughout the day and abide by all hours-of-service regulations.
- Horn: Bus drivers occasionally need to use their horn to alert pedestrians or other drivers of their presence.
- Follow Distance: Bus drivers must maintain a safe following distance with all vehicles ahead of them.
If a bus driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this may be construed as negligence. The company that the bus driver worked for could potentially be held at fault in this instance. This may be a private employer or municipal entity like a city. As a general principle, employers can be vicariously liable for the wrongful actions of their workers who were operating within their job duties.

Steps to Take After Los Angeles Shuttle Bus Accidents
Buses can weigh tens of thousands of pounds and are responsible for many serious injury collisions each year. According to The Journalist’s Resource, “on average, about 63,000 buses [of all kinds] are involved in an accident each year; about 14,000 result in an injured person, and 325 result in a fatal injury.” Any person injured in a bus accident should take certain measures to protect their health and rights.
- Medical Evaluation: Seeking medical support is an important step to take after any type of bus accident. Many of the injuries associated with a bus accident will not be immediately obvious.
- Eyewitnesses: All of the contact information of eyewitnesses should be gathered. They can play a crucial role in establishing what led up to a crash.
- Evidence Collection: The police report for the collision should be gathered along with all available evidence. Taking as many photos as possible of the accident site can also be quite helpful.
- Legal Review: Any person injured in a Los Angeles shuttle bus accident should seek the guidance of an experienced attorney. An attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that buses capable of transporting 16 or more passengers carry at least $5,000,000 in liability coverage. This can go a long way towards helping accident victims. However, bus companies and their insurance providers will often go to great lengths to avoid legal responsibility for collisions that their drivers cause. It is therefore important to discuss your case with a skilled attorney. There are no up-front costs to hire an attorney, and they only get paid by the opposing party if they are able to resolve your claim.
